Why are trades not copying from the Master account to Follower accounts?

The Duplicate Account Actions tool is designed specifically for the NinjaTrader Desktop Platform to link multiple accounts and copy trades from a leader account to follower accounts. To ensure it's working correctly:

1. Verify you're using the NinjaTrader Desktop Platform.

2. Check to make sure that the Copier is turned on in the top-left corner.

3. Double-check that you've properly selected your leader and trailing accounts in the Duplicate Account Actions settings.

4. Ensure all accounts (leader and followers) are properly connected to NinjaTrader with green status indicators.

Below are a few other reasons why trades could not be getting submitted to Follower accounts.

Master Account

You must be placing trades on the Master account. This account will be highlighted brown, based on the default colors, when it is configured.

Turned Off

At the top left of the 'Accounts Dashboard' window, make sure the button displays [ON] and is colored green.

Instrument Specific

At the top of the 'Accounts Dashboard' window, the button is set to a specific instrument such as [ES 09-24] rather than [All Instruments] while you are attempting to trade a different instrument on the Master account.

Inactive Workspace

By default, any 'Accounts Dashboard' window that is loaded in an inactive workspace will be disabled. You can override this in the 'aiDuplicateAccountActions' indicator settings - 'Safety' section, make sure 'Disable Inactive Workspace' is unchecked.

Reversing orders when I try to close trades or use flatten all / Not all of my Accounts are exiting the position / Trades staying open.

First, check to make sure that the Fade feature is not enabled. The 'Fade' button, when set to 'Yes', makes the Follower account take opposite positions to the Master account.

This issue may be caused by a data sync problem, which leads users to believe they are still in a trade. Closing the trade in such cases can inadvertently open a new one. We recommend users to check Rithmic or Tradovate to confirm whether a trade has been exited and if any further action is needed.

Lastly, this could also be due to a setting within your ATM Strategy that is configured to 'Reverse at Target'. This setting, when enabled, can cause the copier to initiate a trade in the opposite direction once the TP is hit. To resolve this issue, you should check your ATM Strategy settings and ensure that the 'Reverse at Target' option is disabled.

I am receiving an Apex Error Message.

Here is a link to Apex's website with a list of error messages and how to fix them. If you still have NinjaTrader up from when you experienced the error, you can click the "Log" tab on the account dashboard to read the entire error message.

How do I select Master and Follower accounts?

When using Duplicate Account Actions to copy trades across multiple accounts, you will need to select one Master account and at least one Follower account.

Selecting A Master Account

Double click on the connected status dot button to the left of the account name to configure it as a master account. You will see the account row highlighted after doing this. You can also deselect an account as a Master account by repeating this action.

Selecting Follower Accounts

Single click on the account name to configure it as a follower account. You will see the account row highlighted gray after doing this. You can also deselect an account as a Follower account by repeating this action.

How do I change my Master Account?

To change your master account, make sure that your copier is turned off and that the Lock Button is not red. Next, double-click the Green Circle of the account you want to change to the master account. This will automatically switch the current master account to unassigned. You can then click the account name to turn it into a follower account.

The Trade Copier and Risk Manager are the same download?

Many products will utilize the same NinjaScript file. All of the product licensing is on the back-end and the file only has to downloaded once. The Trade Copier and Account Risk Manager are found within the same download. You will only need to download and import the file once.

My accounts are not showing up in the Accounts Dashboard or are disconnected.

All Accounts

Accounts will only be added to the 'Accounts Dashboard' window when they are connected for the first time setting up the window.

When some accounts in the window are connected, but others are disconnected, the disconnected accounts will be still be marked with a red dot in the first column. Removing these disconnected accounts will remove all the stored data.

If the connection is connected, and the account is showing a red dot, this indicates that it has been blown and removed.

NinjaTrader Control Center

The Control Center window, Accounts tab, will list all simulated accounts and live accounts that are currently connected. All accounts that are connected and displayed in the Control Center should also display in the 'Accounts Dashboard' window. These accounts can be configured as either a Master or Follower account.

Hidden Accounts Section

You can use the hide button to hide accounts. If an account is disconnected, the hide button will remove the account from all saved settings. Disconnected
status could also mean that the account has been blown or removed from the data
connection – this is common for funded trading companies. When an account is connected, the hide button will simply hide the account from the list of accounts. Accounts can be restored using the [Restore] button when the Account Dashboard is unlocked. This [Restore] button is visible when connected accounts have been
hidden.

Blown Accounts

When a prop firm account is blown, it will be removed from the Rithmic or Tradovate connection. These accounts still show up in the 'Accounts' Dashboard window, even if the account has been removed from the connection, and is not listed in the Control Center window, Accounts tab. You can remove these accounts using the [X] button located directly to the right of the Account column.

How do I add the Trade Copier to my chart?

Right-click in the Chart window and select 'Indicators...'.

Find and add the ‘aiDuplicateAccountActions’ indicator from the list.

Scroll to the bottom of the 'aiDuplicateAccountActions' indicator settings.

Enter the 'Email Address' connected to your Affordable Indicators, Inc. account in the 'License' section. Note that this step is only required the first time you use any of Affordable Indicators, Inc. software products on a computer.

After these steps, the window will be renamed to Accounts Dashboard, and the icons at the top will be removed. If you have multiple accounts and they are not all visible, you can use the scroll wheel on your mouse to scroll through the accounts, depending on the window height of the Accounts Dashboard.

I am missing the Risk Manager columns in my copier (From Funded, Auto Liquidate, From Closed, Daily Loss or Daily Goal).

These columns are part of our Risk Manager product which is a separate from the Trade Copier. You can learn more at the following link: https://affordableindicators.com/ninjatrader/indicators/account-risk-manager/

If you own the Risk Manager and still aren't seeing these columns: Check the top of the indicator's settings under "Main Features" and make sure Account Risk Manager is enabled.

3. Go to Connections > configure in the Control Center window.

4. Select NinjaTrader from the list of Available connections and click the add option from the Configured box.

I can't get my Rithmic Account connected and setup with NinjaTrader. How do I setup my Rithmic account to NinjaTrader?

To connect your Rithmic accounts to NinjaTrader, you need to have the appropriate license key. If you are using evaluation accounts or prop firm accounts, you should have been given an Evaluation License Key that allows you to connect to Rithmic-based evaluation accounts within NinjaTrader. Here are the steps to connect:

1. Open NinjaTrader and go to the Control Center.

2. Navigate to Help > About

3. Verify if you have the "Evaluation (Rithmic)" entitlement. If it's not listed, you won't be able to see the account in the platform.

4. If you have the entitlement, you can establish a connection to your Rithmic-based evaluation account.

If you have a Tradovate-based Evaluation account, you don't need to worry about the License Key or Multi-broker add-on, as Tradovate connections do not require a License Key.

Should you wish to add the Multi-broker add-on to your account, which is not necessary for Evaluation Accounts but allows you to connect to live 3rd party brokerage accounts, you can follow the guide on how to subscribe to the Multiple Broker Add-On for NinjaTrader Desktop here: How Can I Subscribe to the Multiple Broker Add-On for NinjaTrader Desktop?

Why Does my Daily Loss or Daily Goal not match up with my Profit and Loss (PNL)?

Once the daily loss or daily Goal is hit, your account will exit via market orders. Depending on the trade size, number of contracts, and the way the market is moving, there is likely going to be slippage resulting in a higher or lower loss/profit than the limit/goal set.

My Apex eval accounts were renewed recently, and the Net Liquidation, From Funded, Auto Liquidate, and From Closed display either $0 or numbers before the accounts were reset on renewal. How do I fix this?

You need to reset these values. You can reset them by manually adjusting the value for each account, in the indicator settings, Auto Liquidate Peak Balance, to 50000. near the top of the settings.

What is the maximum number of Follower Accounts can you use with the copier?

There is no theoretical limit in the number of accounts, but as you approach and exceed 20 total accounts, NinjaTrader could begin to struggle in certain situations.

Let’s consider using Duplicate Account Actions in ‘Orders’ mode. For example, if you are placing a 3 contract trade entry with 3 Targets configured in the ATM Strategy, this is a total of 6 exit orders, multiplied by 20 accounts, you have 120 orders being placed simultaneously. This can quickly get out of hand additional trade entries – it becomes 240 pending orders, and then 360 pending orders.

You will want to consider using Duplicate Account Actions in ‘Executions’ mode if managing situations where the total number of pending orders at one time will exceed 200 orders – this includes all entry orders, Stop Loss orders, and Target orders.

No one is more committed to maximizing the potential of NinjaTrader to build the best performing trade copier to place and change orders as quickly as possible.

The Refresh Position Button of the trade copier is enabled in the Accounts Dashboard, but I don't see it.

The Refresh Positions Button only appears when there is a mismatch in positions and potential issues.

Can I copy trades from one computer to another computer?

The Trade Copier currently cannot communicate from one computer to another. This is the only disadvantage when compared to other trade copier solutions.

How can I trade Mini and Micro contracts simultaneously using a trade copier?

Type Adjustment Column

When the 'Type' column is disabled, the Follower accounts will automatically follow the exact type of contract [Mini | Micro] traded on the Master account. The Type column should be disabled unless you plan to trade both Minis and Micros across the Follower accounts in the same trade.

When the 'Type' column is enabled, you can click in any cell to switch between Mini and Micro for each Follower account. Whatever it says in the column [Mini | Micro] is the type of contract that will be traded in the Follower account, no matter what type of contract is traded [Mini | Micro] on the Master account.

Below is a list of supported instruments for using the Type column to trade both Mini and Micro instruments simultaneously. You can contact us to add new supported instruments.
