If you're using a Rithmic account in NinjaTrader, you may occasionally encounter a situation where your trades are correctly exited but still show as open in NinjaTrader. This can lead to confusion, especially when users use the "Flatten All" feature, which may inadvertently reverse a closed trade and open a new one. To avoid this, follow the steps outlined below.

1. Understanding the Issue

  • Trades are being exited correctly.

  • NinjaTrader may still display them as open.

  • Using "Flatten All" in NinjaTrader when this happens can cause you to open new trades, as it attempts to close what appears to be an open position.

2. Recommended Solution

To manage this issue effectively, we recommend running Rithmic Trader Pro alongside NinjaTrader. Here's how you can ensure accurate trade tracking:

  • Run NinjaTrader and Rithmic Trader Pro Simultaneously: You can have both applications open at the same time. When configuring Rithmic Trader Pro, make sure the "Orders" setting is set to "On" and "Market Data" is set to "Off" to avoid conflicts.

  • After the Trade is Exited in NinjaTrader: Once your Master Account exits the trade in NinjaTrader, don't rely solely on NinjaTrader’s interface to confirm the trade is closed. Open Rithmic Trader Pro and verify that no trades remain open.

3. If Trades Show as Open in NinjaTrader but Flat in Rithmic

If Rithmic Trader Pro shows that the trades are flat (i.e., closed), but NinjaTrader still shows them as open, take the following action:

  • Disconnect and Reconnect the Data Feed: Disconnect from the data feed in NinjaTrader, then reconnect it. This refreshes the account data, and the trade status should update correctly.

By following these steps, you can ensure that your trades are being tracked accurately, minimizing the risk of accidental reversals and ensuring smoother trading sessions.

4. If the Master Account Exits but Follower Accounts Remain Open

In some cases, the Master Account may exit a trade, but the follower accounts remain open in Rithmic Trader Pro. If this occurs:

  • Use Rithmic Trader Pro to Exit the Trade: Manually exit the follower account trades directly in Rithmic Trader Pro to ensure that all accounts are correctly closed.
